I have sung the whole requiem with the Cathedral Choir of Christ Church, Lexington, KY.  They do it every Palm Sunday.  This is one of a few works that I go to for comfort and reassurance when I feel I'm walking in darkness.

I’ve sung Faure’s Requiem (In Paradism) for many years in our church choir, mainly at Easter ... beautiful music that soothes the soul, we sing it very well and sound very much like this recording ... I will have it played at my funeral ...

The "original" in Gregorian chant is marvelous, but this piece, and its execution, is simply brilliant.
