00:00 The video discusses the fading importance of newspapers in a media-dominated society controlled by a handful of large corporations.
04:05 The media's role in democracy is questioned due to biased coverage and lack of diverse opinions.
07:44 The video discusses the lack of emphasis on understanding the larger nature of how the system operates in the US, and the anti-government sentiment as a response to the feeling of government aloofness and lack of representation.
10:46 Mainstream media outlets often have a pro-business bias and are uninformed about financial crises.
14:12 The media does not focus on class differences and instead promotes the idea of upward mobility through the lottery.
17:39 Media attention tends to revolve around the political elite, but ordinary Americans feel they are seeing different points of view.
20:56 The media's dependence on advertising revenue from big business often leads to a lack of scrutiny of their actions, as seen in the financial crisis.

I think it's safe to say that "we the people" have no say in who and how this country is run. We are all just expendable and taxable pawns in the chess game between the government and corporate elites.

This household has not watched MSM since 2008 when Obama ran for president. MSM may as well put a sign up stating this is who we want you to vote for. These days we get our news via the internet, newspaper articles and public independent media channels. Our MSM is nothing but a throwback to centuries past when the artistocracy determined what could and could not be published. .As with other issues this is not progress but regression.

Democracy and the United States (US) government are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Oligarchs run the US. If the US were a democracy, 38 million Americans would not be living in poverty today, while 8 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens. If the US were a democracy, the US would not be consistently refusing to comply with 42 United Nations resolutions asking her to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. And, if the US were a democracy, more than the actual 40% of Americans would be satisfied with our government. Based on 90% of Chinese being satisfied with their government, China is the real champion of democracy! America is the champion of propaganda!
