The cedar balls are to protect your yarn like a mothball, it's a natural bug deterrent, they're also made of camphor wood

Thanks for the unboxing. I did order the crochet kit also and was glad it didn't have lots of "christmas colors". I'm excited to see what we will make with it. I was creating a hobbii cart with the items as you unboxed and it definitely seemed like a decent value with the advent calendar.

Pretty sure the cedar balls are to put in where you store your yarn to keep out the critters that would eat up your wool

I got the knitting version. The goodies are similar, but in a different order. The yarns are different and in different colors. I'm looking forward to seeing the projects also!

I just got mine a few days ago and of course I opened it!! I'm so pleased with this advent. Actually it is my first crochet advent calendar. I've tried the friends cotton and friends cotton silk and I am so looking forward to use them again but also use the other yarn that I was thinking to buy them myself.
And I like that it is not the classic Christmas colors
