This performance was totally spur of the moment. Bruce had finished his set prior to encores and was headed down the ramp with the band when he stopped halfway & returned to the stage alone. He asked a fan down front to hand up the sign you see in the video requesting that he "Sing one for Levon". That's where the video picks up. Bruce was initially alone on the stage as he began singing but then, one by one, the band joined in with the 20, 000 odd fans already singing along. Was it musically perfect? Of course not, but anyone there that night knew they had participated in one of those rare, pure, magic moments that can't be planned or manufactured. Lotta love at The Rock that night.
