#9 Slow Life in Saigon | Make Pandan Steamed Buns, Crochet Santa Claus for Christmas & Make Matcha

Показать описание
Hi there! It’s Mimi Daisy 🌿
Thank you so much for stopping by this little corner of mine – a space for an ordinary person doing ordinary things ☺️
I truly appreciate you choosing to watch my video amidst so many wonderful ones out there.
Wishing you health and happiness always ♥️
I love making and enjoying matcha.
Though I’m no expert and still a beginner, I’m captivated by its beauty—the color of matcha, the chawan, and the cups I carefully pick.
Every time I prepare matcha, the slow, deliberate process feels so calming and peaceful.
But what keeps me coming back to this drink is its unique flavor—fresh, grassy, with a mild bitterness and a subtle sweet aftertaste.
That refreshing, soothing sensation is something I truly enjoy.
I live in a tropical country where the city I call home only experiences rainy and sunny seasons.
Winter here doesn’t come with snow, but the weather is cool and pleasant.
Still, I can’t help but dream of seeing snow someday—just to see if it’s as magical as it looks in the movies, haha.
Christmas is just around the corner!
Have you started preparing for it yet?
Today, I finally finished crocheting a little Santa Claus.
Isn’t he adorable? :D
It’s a simple project, really, and something I worked on in the evenings when I had some free time.
I’m happy I managed to finish it just in time to show you all.
Now, it’s time to make some steamed buns for my husband and his always-hungry tummy :D.
But today’s buns are a little different—they’re sweet!
I’ll mix pandan juice into the dough to give it a lovely green hue and fill them with a creamy mung bean and milk filling.
They will smell so good!
I only started learning to cook and found joy in it a few years ago.
Back in my university days and even in the early years after graduating, I didn’t know much outside of studying and working.
I didn’t know how to cook and was too lazy to learn.
I didn’t know how to take care of myself or even reflect on what I truly liked or what kind of person I aspired to be.
I didn’t have any clear idea of what happiness and peace meant for me.
Back then, I often centered my world around the person I loved, neglecting everything else.
I was selfish, overly reliant, and only thought about my own feelings.
I was so immature during those years.
When that person suddenly left, I was left feeling like an empty tree in a barren, withered garden.
It took me a long time to regain my balance.
And just then, I met my husband.
Instead of spoiling me unconditionally like others had, he gently and patiently guided me on how to love and befriend myself again.
He helped me reclaim the responsibility of tending to my own garden.
No grand promises or fancy words.
He simply showed me through his actions.
When I didn’t know how to cook, he cooked for me.
When I never exercised to stay healthy, he consistently worked out and said he’d set an example for me :D.
Little by little, he showed me that caring for myself and for someone I love could bring genuine happiness.
He’s helped me grow, day by day, into a better version of myself—living with kindness, understanding what I truly want, and recognizing what matters most.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that only by loving myself can I truly love someone else.
For all of this, I am deeply grateful.
I’ve always believed that when life takes something away, it often brings something even better in return.
Don’t you think the universe always rewards those who keep striving? ^^
Now, my pandan buns are ready!
Let’s enjoy them together.
Thank you for staying until the end of this vlog.
