I had a pet orb weaver spider that lived in the window next to the door. We fed it stink bugs and misted it's web every now and again. Orb Weavers only live for about 3 months, but this one lived for 9. We gave her a Viking style funeral in the fireplace and collected the ashes, which became lost over the years. Somewhere out there is a ring box of fireplace dust bearing the inscription, "The Lady Boutonniere's Ashes".

Actually on the "how do I communicate with blind people" one; I took American Sign Language in high school. Yes this is related, bear with me: I shit you not, our teacher, first day, said "No, we will not be learning braille. Deaf people do not read braille. Blind people do." Without prompting if I remember correctly, which means this question is so common, it's a disclaimer on one of the first days of class.
