Just curious, did you find out the English translation for Lake Local folklore has it that it means, “I’ll fish on my side, you fish on your side, and no one fishes in the middle.”

Apparently the Māori accepted this challenge: there is a hill called Rough translation: "The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the slider, climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his kōauau to his loved one" (a kōauau is a flute.)

Mooselookmeguntic is hilarious. Sounds like a hunter spotting a moose and asking for his gun while having a stroke.

The US would have more long place names if they were named in indigenous languages. My people's language, Anishinaabemowin, has a lot of long words. One of the longer ones is blueberry pie:

It's not a single word, but my favorite city name for many years has been Truth Or Consequences, NM...

There’s a stream in Connecticut named Brook”. The stream is more easily rendered as Morrisey Brook, which tends to be the preferred name for obvious reasons, but the longer Native American name can still found in many modern sources.

As an English kid moving to Wales I was given overnight to learn Or face a beating. I did it ( thanks To my elderly Welsh neighbour) and over 40 years later I can say it in my sleep.

The video of the weatherman is funny. He stands there in front of the map pronouncing the town perfectly with a pleased look on his face and stepped up after finishing. He was so pleased with himself and it was if he had been waiting all of his life to pronounce that name. 😂

My fifth grade homeroom teacher was from Webster MA and her go-to trick for impressing us kids was pronouncing the entire name of that lake flawlessly on command.

I grew up 10 miles from Klinefeltersville. I certainly didn’t have that on my bingo card for an honorable mention or any mention at all!

It is humorously translated to "You fish on your side, I fish on my side, No one fishes is the middle."

Those are the longest single words, but for multi-word, it's hard to top LA:

_El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora, Reina de los Angeles del Rio Porciuncula, _ meaning "The Town of Our Lady, Queen of the Angels on the River Porciuncula"

I swear I'm not making this up, but in Maine we have a Crotch Hill located in Hancock County. There's also a road here called Katie Crotch that constantly has its sign stollen.
