Hey Nate, love these conversations, I’m not a college graduate, didn’t even finish high school, but I am outside a lot and I’m into system analysis, and I’m seeing huge changes to the environment I’m in. I work in the woods and see directly a climate that is changing because our society demands too much. I would love to change my life style to better fit in with more natural way, but I can’t see how to pay for government, and all the taxes without fossil fuel. Solar, wind, nuclear seem like nonstarters, like you and others bring up, a restart would bring on a mining fury that would destroy more than the earth can take, like we brought ourselves up with fossil fuel and now we want to switch to something that if we had started that way would have lead to a much different outcome

1000ppm CO2 = 6 C degrees rise in global average T leading to similar conditions as the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) (56 Mya). Good summation. I think before winds and Ocean currents go stagnant, they will increase then later become stagnant. The thing about the Equatorial lands is that wet bulb temps will rise above 32 degrees C for more days per year as global average T rises.

Hi. Just a tiny formatting suggestion: Fade the video to black a few seconds at the end in order to ease the transition, while keeping the volume the same. That way it would not feel as abrupt and it would visually help accentuate the impression of it being an excerpt of a longer interview. Also, would like to help translate these in spanish.

I've been starting to worry about 2 years ago. The ice caps at the north n south pole create a current in the ocean between the hot n cold water rising n falling that circulate the water. Those caps are melting fast. Can the ocean become stagnant? I saw a very large mass of some sort of algae or seaweed last year.

If we all went skyclad Jain tomorrow it would not be enough...CO2 CH4 removal is a prerequisite, as is reflection to stand any chance.

is this the same Peter Ward did the 2006 vs talk with Steven Meyer?

Hey Nate! Great clip. To be honest, your conversation with Gareth Roberts irked me, there was so much misinformation about this one. Maybe it would be great to push a little bit more back next time? Love your channel!

Stagnant oceans!!!! I have only heard this level of alarm recently for ocean tipping points. I was just following a few stories about Hurricane Freddy that just came ashore in Mozambique 🇲🇿 again after making landfall 7 times in the last 30 days I mean really is this a thing now a typhoon that lives for months

Thank you, Read books by Dr. Ward, Under a Green Sky and Rare Earth, these are keepers...like how he states if this isn't collective suicide I don't know what is!
This channel is a gem of inquiry ...

The precise molecular calculations of very intelligent scientists makes a mockery of the myopic, greedy and self-serving assessments of our political "decision-makers". Narrowly-centered power and greed has overwhelmed human intelligence and benevolence. P.S. Gareth Roberts was a stretch. But thanks for everything else.

I think after a while socially gets all wound up like one of those rubber band airplanes and you just need to let it fly to release the tension, or the rubber band breaks and releases the tension all at once in an uncontrolled way. Even if we had unlimited energy and resources, look how complex we've made everything and I don't see it stopping and I don't think it's sustainable.

Our delicate balance is on many levels to maintain our present climate. We are controlling many of these parameters. Now is the time to reconcile our position and create a living system economy that supports humanity and the biosphere. Study Carbon Quantitative Easing and the Global Carbon Reward.

It’s funny that we don’t put scientist in charge of politics and laws.

Nate, do you know what percentage of the atmosphere is CO2. It's .04%. It plays no role in determining the temperature of the earth.

Most people care about food and water. They turn OFF with this like politics. Until it's right at their door like the end of "Don't Look Up" it's business as usual. ❤️🌎❤️
