Initial impressions are great. this thing is so incredibly polished for a 1st gen device. Valve really took the time to make attention to detail matter. this think feels good and everything about it is pure gaming awesomeness. It all feels thought out and I cant wait to do a full review after a few more weeks of playing with it.

As always thank you for watching and subscribe and click the bell to get notified of new steam deck videos.

Ask any questions you have or want me to make a video about. Thank you!!!

There are different levels of Steam Decks experiences for gamers who are not accustomed to an open platform device. First, they'll treat it like a console. Then they begin to discover desktop mode after reading about the compatibility of certain games. Sooner or later, they come to realize how familiar the desktop mode is. After discovering Desktop mode, the rabbit hole becomes deeper. Soon you discover Steam deck is not limited to one service brand but multiple such as Epic, Ubisoft, and EA. While exploring new store fronts, they stumble into Konsole. Then it snow balls into emulation. Soon after that, they become aware of the limitation of the former console they have hailed from. And begin to get a taste of the difference between Open and Close platform and the potential power of the Steam Deck.

I can’t stress how important it is to support Valve and vote with your dollars and buy this thing (if you can afford to!). Great video and I can’t wait to receive mine.

Been using mine about 2 months, I agree with this review 100%. Really excited to see what this does for the handheld market.

This thing is a dream for me. I have a much beefier pc, and I haven't even touched it since I got my deck haha.

I love my Steam Deck. I look forward to playing it every day. I put on some great titles like GTA V, Stray, Fallout 4, Doom Eternal, Spider-Man, Skyrim and more. Everything runs great! I can play games on XBOX Game Pass and my controls are mapped nicely automatically. I installed EmuDeck and so I have thousands of retro games at my fingertips. PlayStation 2 is one of my favorite consoles of all time. I got over 70 PS2 games installed and all work perfectly! It's a joyous and seamless experience!

Awesome video!
I just paid for my 256gb yesterday so it will hopefully be here in a few weeks (here in Europe)

I’m looking forward to catching up on games I have been meaning to get around to playing, and even may use it to read excel spreadsheets when I’m lying in bed on a Sunday looking at the work week ahead 😂

I cannot wait to play Elden ring on it. I have a good gaming pc but I find that I use it to work from home on now and I cannot separate the work from home and the gaming aspect of the pc, so I think the steam deck will help me relax and play for a while after a busy work day

Welcome to the Deck gang! I have had mine since March, it has been a real thrill tagging along on Valve's journey. The performance per watt is INSANE. Nothing compares to it, even newer Ryzen 6800U... it's more powerful, but not below 12W. (which is really important for decent battery life)

Update - got mine Wednesday. Been emulating mainly but VERY surprised with how easy and simple it is. Haven’t had any issues. Also finally got to play Sleeping Dogs after years of wanting to. Was not expecting for this phenomenal machine to blow my mind away so much. Makes me feel happy being able to revisit all my childhood games and doing it laying in bed. Valve really did a great job.

I totally agree with you, I had the same feeling when I unboxed it and started using it.
Just a fantastic feeling, regaining that passion for gaming I had when I was a kid.

I've had my Steam Deck for about a month; I received it on August 10th. I bought the 256 GB model. I won't deny that paying about 550 € for a product that you've only heard about from others is scary. It is a decent amount of money after all! However, it has been an amazing device so far and I have absolutely no regrets buying it. Is it flawless? No. There are some games that may not work properly (although I haven't encountered many: Many unknown and even some unsupported can work just fine), or few things here and there that could use some tweaking or fixing. However, as a whole the experience with the Steam Deck has been a very pleasant and enjoyable experience for me.

I got a 512 GB microSD card for it quite soon after I got my Deck but lately I've been thinking that maybe I should have gone for 1 TB microSD card instead. However, even if I'll end up doing just that then I don't think my 512 GB card will be useless because I can just keep some of the games there and store it in the Steam Deck's case when I want to play those games. The Steam Deck can quickly recognize games on a card if you take it out and put one in (although for obvious reasons I've only tested with the same card so far) so swapping them on the go has been made really easy. I remember this being a topic on Twitter some time ago, and their only advice was not to unplug card if there is a game running from the card but that should be obvious.

Anyway, if I get another microSD card then I'd probably keep the kind of games on it that I'd rather not uninstall and reinstall every day but aren't like actively playing at the moment and wouldn't mind going through a little bit extra trouble by swapping microSD cards to play them. For example, large games that I'd like to play but not currently doing a playthrough. The 1 TB card could have all kinds of games that I'm in the middle of a playthrough, games that are too big for the internal storage or games that I just want to keep around. The internal storage could have games that I'd rather have access to anytime regardless of which microSD card I have inserted such as my all time favorites or small (in size, not necessarily in content) games or games with a lot of replayability.

The Steam Deck is basically a perfect gaming device for me. Hear me out. I have a reasonably large Steam Library (about 700ish titles). Out of these about 300ish are verified or playable (and obviously some of the other games works too!). My other PC is a laptop that can't really handle anything too heavy (it used to be better but has definitely become slower over time), and the Deck is more powerful than my laptop, doesn't take much space, easier to take with me, comes with input devices, although I wouldn't mind getting a small bluetooth mouse and keyboard for the Deck for desktop mode and such even though virtual keyboard and trackpad have been more than enough for now. The Deck allows me to play games away from desk where I have my laptop, and it would be such a hassle to move the laptop around all the time anyway. With Deck I can play games that my laptop had performance issues with

Of course there are games that my laptop cannot play either due to extremely poor performance or any other reason but that are also incompatible with the Steam Deck. In those cases all I can really do is that they hope improve the game support for the Deck over time. Most importantly the Deck allows me to play games a lot more easily in various places such on my bed, in the kitchen or even in the bathroom. I love how good the sleep functionality is. Valve did a great job with getting that to work. Need to stop gaming? Just put it in the sleep mode and return to it later. Have 5% of battery remaining but have no chance to save the game any time soon? Put it to sleep and continue it later where you left off! Speaking of which, I love those battery warnings. I get them at 10%, 5% and 3%. I don't remember if there is one at 1% too but getting three warnings on low battery that are relatively easy to notice even in-game is good enough for me. It usually gives enough time to wrap up whatever you were doing and either save the game or look for a good time to put the Deck to sleep.

Speaking of the battery life, although I wouldn't mind having longer battery life (who wouldn't, right?), I've been fine with how it is. Some games drain it faster than others but playing less intensive games usually give more than enough playtime even for a longer session. The Steam Deck doesn't feel too heavy, and the buttons are easily reachable. I don't mean to say that the Deck is light because it certainly isn't but its weight is balanced so well that it is easy to hold without tiring yourself. I certainly wouldn't mind a smaller version that would be easier to take with you but that might either lower the performance or battery life. There is always something you need to give up on if you want to get something else. It's not like Valve could bend the laws of physics so until technology advances and allows smaller devices or more powerful batteries then I'd say they did a quite good job with balancing various aspects of the Steam Deck.

Overall I'm really satisfied with my Steam Deck, and it's been an amazing experience so far. To me it's not just a PC but a PC that comes with a display, a controller and other things important for gaming all in one package.

I think more people should mention the repairability, like when was the last time you could buy replacement parts for something?

Just purchased mine two days ago, I'm waiting for it to ship. I can't wait. I feel like a kid waiting for presents on Christmas morning.

I've had my steam deck for a little over a month now and I just realized that the music is missing if you can call it music.

In Big picture mode there's some ambient noise music that please whenever you're doing stuff and the steam deck doesn't seem to do that.
