The 2026 Volkswagen Golf, a car that’s been a favorite for decades but had its fair share of issues in recent years. With this facelift, Volkswagen is promising big improvements—especially in tech and usability. So, is this the perfect Golf we’ve been waiting for? Let’s find out!

Starting with the exterior, the changes are subtle but effective. The headlights and taillights have been redesigned with a sleeker look, and on some models, you’ll even find an illuminated Volkswagen badge at the front. There are also new wheel designs and fresh paint colors to give the Golf a more modern feel. While it still keeps its classic hatchback shape, these updates help it stand out just a bit more.

Inside is where Volkswagen has made the biggest improvements. The most noticeable fix? Physical buttons are back on the steering wheel! No more frustrating touch-sensitive controls that never quite worked right. The climate control sliders are now backlit, making them easier to use at night. The infotainment system has also been upgraded, with a larger, faster touchscreen—available in 10.4 or 12.9 inches. And for tech lovers, there’s even ChatGPT integration, though its usefulness remains to be seen.

When it comes to space and comfort, the Golf remains a solid choice. There’s plenty of legroom and headroom for passengers, though the middle seat in the back is still a bit tight. The boot offers 381 liters of space, but if you go for the plug-in hybrid, you lose around 100 liters due to the battery placement. Material quality is generally good, but some lower-trim models still have cheaper plastics that don’t quite match premium rivals.

Under the hood, you get a range of engine options, including petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, and plug-in hybrid. The 1.5 TSI 150 is the best balance of power and efficiency, making it a great all-rounder. The plug-in hybrid is particularly impressive, offering up to 73 miles of electric range, but it’s only available on higher trims, so it won’t be cheap.

On the road, the Golf continues to be smooth and easy to drive. It’s not as sporty as a BMW 1 Series, but the ride quality is excellent—especially if you opt for the Dynamic Chassis Control. It strikes a great balance between comfort and handling, making it an ideal everyday car.

The hated up to high screen is even bigger the seats have a fake swayed that won’t last no actual knobs or buttons except on steering wheel do draws. No Gass strut under bonnet just a stick like my 1974 ford this car hass lost so many sales. Wonder why there closing TWO factories while sales of Hyundai and Toyota and mg go up. Vw won’t listen to customers or dealers and even worse no manual gearbox or diesel cars now. GOOD BYE VW. MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET THE CHINESE TO DESIGN YOUR CARS
