50:13 What’s funny, for me, is that I keep seeing my own tastes shifting away from Euros - or at least heavier Euros - and more towards - I don’t want to say straight up Amerithrash classic types of games - but games in which the theme does shine a lot, but also have less classic American mechanics (like roll to resolve) and more Euro mechanics.

Thank you so much to have included Ganymede there, one of my top 10 all time!

Great to see Shea on. Would also like to see Ryan some time. His name also fits the RnR show.

Another long game that is sort of tricky to get to the table is Dune. The original Dune game is amazing if played with exactly six players and if everyone at the table is invested in the theme. Some of my favorite gaming memories come from those games. :-) The bad points for the game is that you basically want all of those factors to have a great game... plus upwards of four or five hours to play. That is hard to plan for, so it is really hard to get to the table.

Xia is another excellent one not listed here; I have a fondness for sandboxy games. I was also wondering if Rahdo would mention Space Hulk: Death Angel. That game is mean! heh

13:44 ...Not only that, but Shea may also be the person who ends up saying the secret word - and so he therefore would know which game it is by default.

Can’t believe Gaia Project didn’t make it. Would’ve probably been my number 1.

I love Black Angel and I think it is one of the most underrated games in bgg. Nobody talks about it except you Rahdo....
My no 1sci fi game is Star Wars Rebellion. Love that game. We always have epic stories after playing it.

Who won the contest last week? Have to watch the extended edition to find out or did I just miss it?

@Rahdo - are you trolling Shea Parker by putting “Twilight Struggle” instead of “Twilight Imperium” as his #1?

As I know Rahdo likes the Alien stuff, Nemesis does have a fully cooperative mode in the box, I have not played it but it is there.

Loving these top 10 lists! But wondering when you’re counting down why do you number down as 10 to 1. It seems cumbersome and sometimes the speaker stumbles for a second as to what number he’s on. It would seem smoother to me if you countdown to your respective 5 to 1? Just food for thought…

just got jump drive, which for me supplants star realms as it’s not combat but a fast race game and i seem to prefer it to roll or race which i have the apps for. roll is just way too fiddly for me and just annoying to find combos between the worlds / developments. for that race seems much better as you are focused on the cards. jump drive gives me that experience in a much shorter time with modern designs sensibilities. Could jump drive be longer.. sure it could be a great 30 mins card game better than race in my opinion.

My favorite sci fi games atm are Dune Imperium, Space Based, Terraforming Mars and Twilight Imperium 4. TI4 is more an event and experience, than a game.

48:40 You see... I would never have made or even thought of the thematic story of the game while playing it. I guess that’s why I am on #TeamThinker, as opposed to #TeamThemer.

1:05:45 NO!!! No way will I be playing any game virtually - let alone Twilight Imperium (or any other game, especially one which could last like 6 - 8 hours) - in which I am imprisoned over a computer screen. TI will have to be a game which I would experience ONLY in person.

The whole reason as to why I got into the board game hobby to begin with is to get away from the screen - and turn the clock back (at least for a little while).
