Mariah really took one of her best songs and made it better!!!
The reason Brandy doesn't have lead vocals on the song is because I think it would change the song up too much. Also the song and it's lyrics are a little too autobiographical to her haha.
This was just meant to be for the masterclass and more specifically for the background vocals, sampling and instrumentation section so those were the only major changes to the song. It completely coincided with what Mariah was teaching in a few lessons.
Also the only reason Brandy's name is featured on the song is because she is a prominent musician. Same with Mariah on Babyface's Everytime I close My Eyes.

the two of them really just complement each other well with harmonies.the outro section will always soothe me, especially the back and forth with their richness for what we know them for, Brandy's warmth and Mariah's lightness in their tone! Mariah's ear for arrangement is impeccable .
