WRAN - Talking Water: Groundwater Management Presented by Sarah Porter and Kathleen Ferris
Показать описание
When you talk about water in Arizona, two ladies come immediately to mind – and we were fortunate enough to have both of them on the line.
Sarah Porter is an attorney who received her undergrad degree from Harvard University and her law degree from Arizona State. Prior to becoming the inaugural director of the Kyl Center for Water Policy at the Morrison Institute, Sarah was Executive Director and Vice President right here at Audubon Arizona where she, among many other things, directed Audubon’s Western Rivers Action Network. She has a broad understanding of Arizona and regional water issues and the importance of securing Arizona’s water future through collective and inclusive input.
Following Sarah’s presentation, we enjoyed a Q&A opportunity with Kathleen Ferris. Kathy has been involved in Arizona water issues for 35 years and is currently a Senior Research Fellow at ASU’s Morrison Institute for Public Policy. She began her career working at the Arizona State Senate and was later appointed Executive Director of the Arizona Groundwater Management Study Commission. Her work with the Commission and with former Governor Bruce Babbitt culminated in the passage of the 1980 Arizona Groundwater Management Act. She served as Chief Counsel to ADWR, as the agency’s Director and as the Director of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association.
