Although I enjoyed the epic orchestrated music of a game like DS3, I really liked the contrast of the dark, ambient soundtrack of this game. It fits the whole dreary, hollow, purgatory-like atmosphere of Fallgrim. Especially this theme as the unchained comes to realize how hopeless his existence is.

This boss is legitimately terrifying in a way unlike any encounter in Dark Souls proper because of one thing.

Context.

Your character has a personal relationship with the Unchained, not just as some boss with lore you can look up later but as a malevolent threat plotting against them. He actually interacts with the player and has understandable motivations, so his fight is made more chilling because of it.

Hmmmm while I love this song, umm wasn’t there a choir going on in the song ingame or is there a mix that’s for during the fight that does that?...ooor is that a different track entirely? Either way, this is probably my favorite of the soundtrack, you need to be delicate to not make something like this sound generic or forgettable. It was pulled off well!
