So many people seem to miss the point of the "suicide" doors, which is basically to have a shorter front door but still allow free access to the rear (and without moving the seat). I regularly drive a 3 door Pug 208GTi, and tight parking spaces are a nightmare with the long doors. The i3 solution is far better, even if something of a puzzle to work out ;)

Hi I have the i3S (94Ah rex) it can have rear parking sensors (mine has plus the camera) but it can't have the side sensors for the auto park. The steering also tightens up in Sport mode. I find sportmode doesn't suck the battery on it's own... but a heavier right foot does which obviously sport mode encourages but I often engage sport mode for the twisties because I prefer the steering feel. I flipping love my i3.. many people don't get it but it's WAY more than the sum of it's parts and I think you just have to drive one to understand.. You either get it or you don't....

As far as I am aware, ALL public charging station in the US are tethered. When I purchased my 60ah i3 REx it had Blizzaks on it, in May! I had read that at one time, BMW had a plan where they would upgrade the battery, and take the old one and make it into a Tesla style electric wall.

The granny charger with the car set to Low charging speed is perfectly acceptable. How often do you get home in the evening with the battery completely empty?

Guys, thanks for a fantastic, highly “real-life” informative video. I definitely learned a few tricks 😁👌🏻 I’ve had my 120Ah i3 BEV for 17 days now and I am still learning every day and loving this car more than I ever loved my Golf GTI, which is saying something. I’m not sure how many EV’s there are in South Africa right now but I believe it to be around a thousand or so. DC chargers are scarce, but I believe there are approx 120 across the entire country. AC chargers are a little more common but my first test with one was a little tricky... Locking/unlocking doors stopped the charging session etc so I gave up tbh. Tips for AC charging would be greatly appreciated. I have charged up with the Granny charger at the end of a 170KM journey and that took about 13hrs from 40% left to full. That trip was at 120KM/H, with aircon on at 24C (outside temp 28C) and radio on 🤣 Strangely I did notice an immediate drop on the GOM of ~20 KM when engaging NAV (normal map viewing did not make the GOM drop)

One thing about EV's (and maybe the i3 in particular), it seems that once you have a full service history then the 'actual' mileage on a 2nd hand vehicle does not matter. I bought a 2014 model with 86k miles and there's nothing wrong with it. Battery has just degraded 11% in that time. But the price depreciated more - possibly by 60% 😁
