As the owner of a 1983 Mk1, I think I am going to enjoy this series of videos. I can recomend a channel called Trev's Blog for lots of usful information and tips on restoring bodywork, welding, pannel fabrication and painting. I have a leared a lot from Trevors videos. All the best for the restoration.

I wonder what people expect when they come and watch a vid like this and then leave a neg response. This ais a bloke who is changing his life (and that of those close to him) by doing something that he wants to and enjoys doing. There will be minor tech hiccups with filming and content but thats to be expected and I am sure lessons are learnt along the way. Yep I would like to have seen more of the engine bay strip down and disconnect but come on you miserable lot, dont give him a thumbs down, just move on if you didnt like it. Well done Dan, good of you to pass on these experiences and looking forward to future episodes

I had one of these, same colour, lower d on sachs sports suspension. 1600cc, which was more fun in my opinion than the 1800cc. Only problem I ever had was dry joints in the fuse box, and cracked plastic around the dash. Loved that car.

Good progress so far already Dan!! Nice work!! It's so good that you are taking the time to do it the right way and stripping it down like that lets you get a really good picture of it all and what you need to do. Allows you the flexibility of being able to do it the right way. I have OCD when I work on cars so I HAVE to do it right haha. I'm currently helping a mate rebuild his 1992 R32 GTR and yeah, we are both making the effort to do things correctly. Also, Dexter makes another appearance!! Yay!! (I see him just chilling in his bed in the background haha). Keep up the great work mate, loving the vids!

Dan keep up the great work! Like the honesty. Don't let the whole job mental beat you just take one job at a time. From personal experience I would try and find whole panes to replace like the B pillar and the floors / inner wings etc then wire wheel the edges and drill out the spot welds after punching the centres. The more new metal you put in the less work you have to do trying to find strong old metal and cutting random shapes and squares out of the old panels. Best of luck and don't forget a face mask to protect them eyes from sparks
