To an elderly person, $600 dollars is a lot of money...whether you're black or white. The police agency needs to be sued as well. I hope she wins her lawsuit.

What a disgrace! So sorry you had to be humiliated in such a way. This whole thing could have been resolved if they would've gave Ms. Linda her $600 back. All in involved need to be fired! She need to file a lawsuit against the police department and that bank. This was truly a racist act. Now she can pay off her home. Thank you to her husband who served our country. God bless you both.

It's one thing to be arrested and assaulted, but to be stripped naked and thrown in jail at 70 years old is beyond disgusting! The officers involved acted like slave owners in Chattel slavery. It figures it happened in Racist Ron Defascists state.

The callous disregard for this bank customer of 50 years is incomprehensible.

I'd be boycotting that bank ASAP if I banked there! Even if she went about it the wrong way she still didn't deserve that treatment. Whoever said she had a gun need to be arrested for the false report to police. And sue the police department as well.

The oldest crime in America is being black. So in instances of injustice go after the one thing the powerful understand and that's money. Take them to court. Put them on notice in the media so that others know to stay away from them. This bank, and there are others, don't deserve black money. If what I'm hearing about her police interaction is also true, they too need sued. We want justice and equal treatment and we want it now. To know justice is to know peace. I'm so sorry what this lady, Mrs. Linda Stevens, went through. Being black in America shouldn't hurt as it often does.

Banks also take into account the customer's account history. Customer for 50 yrs. and did her account maintained a stable balance or did her account have a history of being overdrawn. She probably had a history of making this same $600 dollar deposit monthly. The most important fact the man doing maintenance on the ATM Machine said he found $600 in the machine that probably didn't go in the canister properly. That was even more reason this woman should have been given a provisional credit. There was absolutely no reason for the customer service representative or teller to treated her this way. She should be fired.

This is just so wrong on every level conceivable. I wish she had been my teacher or my children's. She's a lovely person. She needs to be compensated!

Spent s night in jail for demanding her money the bank couldn't prove it was safe... May she get millions in return from that bank... They should be badly sued as a lesson never to be repeated...

She said she went in with the receipt, demanding to know where that deposit was because they had not posted to her account.
Anyone would be justifiably UPSET, especially walking in atm deposit receipt in hand.
I'm glad she's taking them to court because RATHER than the management stepping in to profusely apologize and immediately look at the receipt to confirm and corroborate or not their customers' claim. Even though atm was down, if she was ABLE to deposit AND was issued a receipt from the atm, that means the atm camera had to be on during the transaction the day before (in the event their own receipt wasn't proof enough, not to mention the lady was an account holder of 50 years..)
They had no business calling the police when they SHOULD and could have de escalated and apologizing for the scare and inconvenience, verifying that receipt and considering their own machine fritzed out and quickly posted this 50 year customer's deposit.
The thing IS that credit union would have to have engaged qualified and professional management at the branch which as evidenced by what happened to this poor lady, they did not.
So now they will learn from this case.

The cop is also at fault by saying the grandmother said she had a gun. Police always try to jam pack their arrests...like, throw the mud on a wall and see what affairs is only one office next to the police desk. Internal affairs were also the police they work for.

Sue them for all they have. No other nations of people they will have done this to. They still treat us today the same way we first stepped foot off that slave boat. Nothing has changed
