Skin temperature is only active with the cycle tracking ie women's health. Hopefully in future updates the temperature sensor will be used to for skin temperature for other reasons.

I think the fact that nearly the entire rest of the world has approved this feature and we're still waiting for it in the USA is a testament to how garbage our government is. We're still waiting on the blood pressure sensor to be enabled on the GW4 from 2 years ago and now we have yet another awesome feature we won't EVER get to enjoy because our systems are too broken to take initiative and test features.
