Torrential rain caused by Storm Boris continues to wreak havoc across central and eastern Europe.

Four people were killed and two others are missing in Romania. Several people remain unaccounted for in the Czech Republic where flood barriers have gone up in Prague.

Poland's prime minister Donald Tusk confirmed one death on Sunday as he urged stricken residents to cooperate with rescuers.

The Austrian province surrounding Vienna has been declared a disaster area, with its leaders speaking of "an unprecedented extreme situation".

Well I heard in the news that in last two days rainfall accumulated to 400 millimetres in some parts of Poland while annual average is 600 millimetres. Yes in two days 2/3 of annual rainfall

Im very proud of the alerting system in Poland: they were saying everywhere a week before that there are going to be floods and huge rains. 15 years ago it would be "ooops who would have guessed" 😮

Funny how the correspondent was in Warsaw, where the city has the lowest Vistula levels basically in recent history at only 20cm of water and not in areas that have more than 4-5 meters of water. It's not inaccessible as well many journalists go there and report on the spot.

Back in 97', In my home town, Duszniki - Zdrój ( 30 km from Klodzko which is shown here), the floods ripped asphalt off some of the roads.

It's a laugh seeing these images. The streets covered with water to one's ankles where there are places where dozens of houses are literally under the water, falling apart. The situation is absolutely dramatic in some areas, and it should be shown and told accordingly. Bad job BBC.

I live in Poland, I am save because I live on mountainous terrain, just a while ago I was out to byu groceries and the clouds just ripped apart above me and it started raining really heavily, didn't expect these massive floods. Although I have been surprised by the most complete lack of rain here all summer.

Interesting that the BBC affords a correspondent in both Prague and Warsaw. Nice!

This is the new normal. Municipalities need to redraw their floodplains and do what they can to get people out from living there.
