Rainbow boa (Epicrates cenchria) is one of the most beautiful constrictor snakes in the world! It lives in South America. In this video, you will see wild Rainbow boas in their natural habitat. We traveled to Peru to find and film snakes in the Amazon rainforest.

I have a Colombian rainbow boa constrictor and he is among the sweetest snakes I have ever had the joy of interacting with. If YouTube comments would allow pics to be posted, I would be glad to share. His full name is Rocky "Rainbow" Balboa (enjoy the intentional pun), and his favorite thing in the world is your face.

wow, ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO FROM LZ . The Rainbow is one of the only BOAS I HAVE NOT ever/yet kept, so just seeing them on screen is a treat, and my favorite
LZ video is always the newest one because they just get better and better. Bravo !

Thanks so much! Rainbow boas are wonderful. Mine is very active after dark, almost always hidden during the day, but tends to stay out during the breeding season.

I wonder if there is an adaptive advantage to iridescence in snakes. I've noticed that many fossorial species, especially semi-aquatic, fossorial mud dwellers such as the members of the New World Farnacia and Southeast Asian Xenopeltis genera are so endowed. I wonder if their "polished" skin may ease burrowing in moist substrates. The iridescence may be an incidental side-effect of that rather than an adaptive feature unto itself. As for the Epicrates, perhaps it is an evolutionary relict of a past fossorial existence.

Btw, one of those is especially spectacular! Gorgeous video as always.

Rainbow boas are extremely beautiful. I love these snakes next to the emerald tree boas and other boa and python species.

The "Red" Rainbow Boa is my favorite too! Many years ago I had 3 E.cenchria and also the "Brown Rainbow Boa" = Epicrates maurus. On 10/17/2008 my female E.cenchria gave birth to about 1 dozen young. My first Rainbow Boa was E.maurus. I bought the snake (no juvenile!) in 1977, she passed away in 1992. According to the previous owner, my boa was over 20 years old when she dies. 27 years in captivity is the record for E.maurus (formerly Epicrates cenchria maurus). E.cenchria seems to be more aggressiv then E.maurus. At least that's my experience. Nevertheless, Rainbow Boas are awesome snakes. Thanks for this video. Good job as always! 5stars!
