When the voices of Gods manifest themselves in earthly human bodies.

They held so still during the whole thing. Impressive.

Yes, it's a long note.
Yes, it's a high note.
The fact that it is beautiful and not shrill and harsh is what makes this remarkable.
Her tone was so clear and pure, even when she was singing so powerfully.
A truly superhuman vocalist.

Back in the olden days, she would've been called an aggressive mountain deity for causing avalanches on a whim.

Caballè somehow was capable of defying human physiology. Just imagine exhaling for 15 seconds on a high note at full volume over a huge orchestra. Good luck with that.

1:04 - 1:18: have to listen closely at the beginning of her singing to catch it.

We are too quick to call performers superstars these days. This woman was one of the few who deserved that title.

The athleticism is impressive, but the communicativeness in a single note was spellbinding. She had no trouble slicing through the orchestra.

Reminds me of the morning my wife discovered a large spider in her underwear drawer. She was certainly moved by the experience - rapidly by at least 10 metres!!

This is why Freddie Mercury wants to a duet with her

Don’t know if you guys know the story behind why she held this note so long apparently she was getting upset that Corelli would stretch and hold some notes longer than her, but she was not about to be out-diva’d, so she waited until the very last note of the opera and held it for 6 seconds and smiled at Corelli after she finished. Now that’s a true diva!!

I wish Verdi could have heard this. Think of the joy he'd have had, hearing his music performed with such brilliance!

The way that note rises out of the other voices and sails above the orchestra is truly amazing.

What is equally impressive is N. Lidar is still giving out hearts to commenters after 3 years!

Seemed like she could go on for a few more seconds but had to stop for the orchestra

She could also float a pianissimo better than any singer ever. Heard her live in 1972.
