I'm rockin with her music, I don't see why there's so much hate. Even Michael Jackson didn't write some of his songs.

While Pitchfork's reputation stems from being a publication/media producer that produces content about more alternative and "lowey" artists, it's a bit much to be this upset for a spotlight on Rihanna. Personally, I don't agree with some of the hierarchy of songs in this video, but I do believe Rihanna is an icon and an influence to lesser known artists or groups (namely those in alternative R&B) that Pitchfork would normally focus on, thus she does have a place on Pitchfork, in my opinion. It's perfectly okay for Pitchfork to deviate from its normal content once in a while, and although I am not much of a pop enthusiast, I do believe this was an entertaining video even though it was lacking a greater analysis on Rihanna's music.

lmao why are you all so mad. Rihannas been around forever its logical to analyze some of her music. Chill tf out its a music website this is what they do.

Alright I wanted to defend this vid with the argument popular music isn't necesarily bad and alternative isn't necesarily good. But bitch betta have my money and work are truly terrible songs pitchfork

Rihanna has always been the ongoing "silver medalist"/bridesmaid of pop. While her chameleon like nature proved to be a brilliant survival strategy providing her with great longevity, it's also stopped her star from truly shining. Despite having peak years (such as 2007, 2008 and 2012), she has never taken the crown of any pop era at any point in her 12-year strong career with every era she's been through seeing her play second fiddle to a pop star that better defined the period. In the R&B-Hip Hop fused mid-2000s it was Beyonce, in the electropop and club dance charged late 2000s/early 2010s it was Lady Gaga and/or Katy Perry and in the early/mid-2010s it was Taylor Swift and/or Ariana Grande.

P.S. Disturbia, Rehab and Please Don't Stop the Music being omitted is criminal.

I'm usually fine with Rihanna, but Work has to be her worst.

She's not the worst popstar around, but she's not the best either. Genuinely confused why she was chosen to do a list for?

Umbrella's the only good song on the list

Dude, Bitch Better Have My Money is awful. What about Disturbia, or Hard, or (as I consider her best work) Stay?

Poptimism gone off the deep-end. You guys are basic. Rihanna is the K-Mart of pop and you're too mired in identity politics to admit that.
