When reviewing reports of supposed encounters with strange entities, it’s easy to be sceptical. However, the situation becomes more challenging when crucial witnesses can present seemingly compelling physical evidence to substantiate their claims. Such was the case in an incident, which occurred in the southern United States during the early 1970s, an alleged encounter with a mysterious figure known as the Alabama Metal Man.

Never been entirely sure where I fall on this story but I always thought the townspeople reacted a bit violently to something that hardly effected them and ruined a rather successful man.

I am now 53 years old but when I was 16, on the opening day of deer season. I walked up on a Sasquatch squatted down by a creek. This is the only encounter I've ever had in my life, but it changed my life forever. I can understand the ridiculed the man went through and feel sorry for him. there are things out there that we simply do not understand. After my encounter I was afraid to go into the woods for a year, but I started back hunting and even wanted to encounter the creature again, and I thought I would but in the 36 years following I never found so much as even a track. I have been left wondering how this could be and will most likely wonder this until I pass away.

So, he didn't want to tell anybody but she insisted. Finally, he acceded and everything went sour. She couldn't take the fallout and divorced him because, obviously, it was all his fault.

One thing to note about this one too, apparently the people who thought it was coincidental for a police officer to carry a camera were too stupid to know that a cop needs to carry a camera to take crime scene photographs.

Wow, the worst part is his wife divorcing him. Truly a despicable woman. She talked him into talking about it and then abandons him when things get rough.

I’m actually from the area and made my own video on it. The town pretty much thinks it was a hoax played on him by a guy named Ricky Jo Smith. He was a prankster that showed up to a Halloween party in the exact costume as the Metal Man 2 weeks later. However Greenhaw was a victim of this and is the exact reason why people don’t come forward with their encounters. The 50th anniversary is this Tuesday October 17th. Greenhaw never changes his story plus the Pascagoula Alien Abduction happened the same week with Alien entities describing similar creatures

Whoa, quite strange that the community reacted so violently to his claims. Fire bombing his home over something like this? Even *if* he was lying, isnt that overkill? If he was telling the truth, seems like he was intentionally set up. Either that or maybe some military thing that he wasnt supposed to see, so they were trying to shut him up. The true horror are the terrible depths townsfolks in small communities can sink to in the presence of an "acceptable" target. This is far more disturbing than any UFO story here.

Assuming this wasn't all a stunt by the cop the town is really messed up if they firebomb a house. It feels more like someone in the towns didn't like him and were out to get him so they set all this up.

I feel bad for Greenhaw. He didn't deserve that ridicule, and I believe he definitely saw something out there. To me, it sounds like the authorities really wanted to cover it up. I mean, how the hell do you explain someone outrunning a car going 40 mph as a prank?

Honestly, in stories like these, the trope that horrifies me the most is when people try to reach out for help and they just get ignored or ridiculed. I always imagine it's like when someone with a mental illness or disability asks for help and since few people understand mental illnesses and disabilities, they just say they don't need or deserve help. Or like someone is trying to escape an abusive relationship but no one would believe that person can be abusive or the abuser constantly gaslights the victim. That's some *real* horror right there!

This happened less than 30 minutes where I live. The neighboring county is also where I had my first and only encounter with an unknown aerial phenomenon that I still cannot explain to this day. There’s strange happenings taking place in this neck of the woods.

As far as Greenhaw being a hoaxer, I can't fathom any level of miscalculation that a 1970's sheriff in Alabama could make that he would think a robot alien sighting to be great for his reputation.
