Driver Fails at Low Bridge U-Turn - USA Truck

Driver attempts a U-Turn instead of backing out from a low bridge situation. This folks is why you don't depend solely on your GPS! Why on earth would you do this to the truck... USA should not only fire his ass, but send him a bill. He blatantly destroyed that equipment. Simple solution would be to G.O.A.L then back up! or call the police for assistance backing.

If you newbies are ever in this situation, just call for help or slowly back up. Cars will move.

I’ve been a driver for 20 years I feel for this guy there’s a lot more stress out there when you’re driving than regular drivers could ever believe

Rookie driver here. This happened to me and I got out and everyone who was behind me got out to assist me to turn the truck around safely. Communication is key and never feel pressured to do anything out of your skill set.

I’ve been a driver damn near 10 years. For all the new drivers out there, if you ever encounter this situation CALL THE POLICE!!! I cannot stress this enough. This guy could have easily backed up then made a u-turn. SMH

I really hate it for the driver. I drove for 10 years before calling it quits. The best piece of advice I can give a new driver is stay calm, don't panic and keep a level head.

Gotta tell you, when I drove an 18 wheeler I got myself in a bad situation a time or two. It is a sickening feeling. And embarassing as hell

As a fellow trucker, 21 years in the game, non CDL ppl have no idea how panicking this can be...but I knew this driver and I'm proud to say that he was written up but still have his job...also, it's a shame we live in a world where ppl would rather record than help...they could've at least tried to help

Years otr here myself...I feel bad for this kid. True meaning of learned the hard way. Dude filming could've jumped out and helped. We are all in this together people. Even if you don't drive trucks you know this is not a good situation

Sucks to be that dude. I'm a driver myself, so I can sympathize with most truck drivers. But why he thought he could u-turn a 53 ft trailer on a 2 lane road is beyond me.

I've gotten stopped by a low bridge a few times. Seriously, best thing you can do is call police and have them help you back out.

This exact type of situation happened to me years ago during my first year on the road. I was in Chicago. The road did have a Low bridge height sign but you couldn't see it until you have already committed to the road. Traffic was so bad that backing up was out of the question. I looked at my GPS and it said there is a road 2 more blocks further down the rabbit hole that I could use to get turned around. When I got there to my horror the freakin road was closed and barricaded. I had no choice but to call the police on myself so they could come out and block traffic long enough for me to turn around. To my supprise, they didn't ask me any questions, they didn't write me a ticket. In fact as soon as I got turned around they drove off without saying a word. I guess this must happen all the time 🤣. But still, after that, I never wanted to go back to Chicago. Those roads are not meant for big trucks.

Boy can I relate to what he must be feeling. I'm a new driver 5 days old lol and landed up taking a wrong turn in Atlanta and landed up literally on a side road downtown on a no truck route. Talk about full on anxiety me a few to calm the hell down so I could get out.

At least he saw the sign and is trying to turn around. The guy filming could back up a little to let him strait back to the intersection. But no filming is more important than helping someone who needs it.

At first I was laughing, but after a while I just felt sorry. I was once a new driver and felt empathy for him.

I always have seen this video pop up through the years and really think the locals should of helped him out. You know the same people navigate that road and probably have seen plenty of drivers in this situation in this exact spot numerous times. Even if I'm off work in my car I try to help a fellow trucker brother out. Trucking is trial by fire and you learn on the road. The public needs training just as much as this guy

You can read every book on truck driving that was ever written but experience comes to you over years of trucking and that driver won't do things that way anymore.

Poor guy... He seems devastated. I'm glad he finally got some help.

I had no idea it was THIS easy to get your CDL. There are some insanely skilled truck drivers out there. Even to the not so skilled, Hats off to ya. That job just has to be brutal

Most people have no idea how easy it is to get into a bad situation in a big rig.

You can tell he is panicking here. When I first started driving, for the first 4-5 months, I was constantly on the edge of that same panic. The right set of circumstances, the wrong day, that could have been me.
