Completely agree. There’s exceptions for sure, but having the freedom to exist in your own home without someone else always being nearby is great. Especially for people with controlling, harsh, or outright abusive parents.

I think the issue is, you shouldn't be forced to move out which is what happens most of the time, if you have shitty parents or abusive ones you absolutely should, or if you just want to, but again you shouldn't be forced

I personally live with my dad, but since we do our own things, respect each other's boundaries/personal space, and our relationship is built on trust and respect to the point he feels like both my dad and one of my best friends, I have no problems living with him. I just wish there were more parents that treat their kids with respect rather than acting like they own them, and kids that reciprocate that respect.

I love my mom, but like my parents were out of the house for almost 2 weeks recently and you have no IDEA how liberated I felt. My anxiety fucking evaporated straight up.

Different strokes for different folks. I’m very happy with my family and moving out just for the sake of it doesn’t make sense when I’m already saving towards an international move in the long term. But all my other friends are sick of their parents and are itching to get out as soon as possible. The youngest of the group is even looking into getting custody transferred to her older brother to get away from their mother.

If you are in a home with loving parents and a safe home, instead use this as a sign to go thank them. Right now, thank them. Don’t wait. Do it right now

We should condemn the bad, but we should also thank the good, so many people take it for granted

If you feel held back, yes, you should look into moving out but note.. the ability to save up money is direcrly correlated to how many roommates you take into a housing situation and how good of a house mate they are.

If you feel like you can't live with anyone you trust, you are better off living with family until you find people who you believe you can live with and wont have to cover their slack.

This sounds more like a “you have terrible parents” problem than it does a “living alone is nice” thing. I know I'm living at home with my dad for as long as possible, it's the best way to save up money, and without money you cannot have freedom (as contradictory as it sounds it is absolutely true)

And here's the vital thing. Moving out is good, but not necessarily moving Alone. Forming a small group of your friends or non close relatives can be a lifesaver for financial and even home stability, and provided they are willing to pull their weight by taking care of the home, can even help a colleague who is otherwise in a trapping situation to get safely out and onto their feet. People lived through the great depression by grouping up. Now is the time to think like that

Agree completely after I choose to leave to go live with my best friend shi has gotten so much easier, no more fighting, no yelling, just laughs and good vibes, honestly such a relief!

It's important to have the option. But until you can afford rent, food, electricity, ect, ect all at the same time, there should be no shame in living with parents.

Videos like this remind me how blessed I am to have an understanding mother who doesnt cage me in and only tries to get me to improve when I need it

The moment I moved out, I wanted to immediately go back home.

I feel this for sure! I love my mom, but she was very overprotective and I felt very stifled when I lived with her. Not to mention my straight up abusive aunt and uncle. It's so freeing to be able to do what I want, when I want, and not have to get permission for every little thing.

I did that for the summer, but I had to move back in because I literally couldn't afford to live anywhere else

I live with my parents at 20. They don't usually bother me, they give me responsibilities, and they respect my space and privacy.
