Retool is the answer, rebuild through trades for young guys and prospects. Maybe 1-2 draft picks but goal is definitely back in playoffs next year or the year after. Let’s say we get pick 7-8 this year and then maybe 9-10 next year and then trading all the vets for young guys and then signing some vets for depth on cheap contracts and let the young guys fill the key roles. 10, 93, 20, 91, 16, 26, 55, 8, and even 31 should all get traded give the young guys all year to develop with 18+ mins a night and have quickie and another goalie split the starts and get someone thru trade like Fowler, Augustine or Cossa and pair with Garand.

There's no need for a full😂rebuild, a retool is in order. But before that happens Drury is not the guy to pull the strings. So I would hire Messier as team president and bring in a new philosophy to the organization. I would Laviolette go and hire Quenneville. With these two in place now they can start moving pieces in and out. What I recommend doing is two fold trade some players for prospects and draft picks and others for NHL players. For example deal with Vancouver surfaced around JTMiller and Mika could work. Trading Kreider to Boston for prospects and draft picks is something they can do as well. Building assets for a future trade is key to this retool. Dolan has made major front office changes before and he needs to do it again.

The Panthers won the president trophy then they scored 92 points qualifying for the 8th position in the playoffs they had no chance against the Boston Bruins who had just set the regular season record for most points ever. This sport is not for the weak hearted, and you do not win by being scared to lose.

They have no choice but to rebuild. This current roster peaked getting to the ECF. It's only going to get worse. The league knows to be physical with the Rangers an they can't handle it. 5v5 hockey the Rangers have to be the worst in the league with one of the worst defenses in the league. You can't sustain success when you have those factors effecting this team. Igor and Quick are already starting to show signs of being tired due to the heavy workload on a game to game bases.
