01 - Graphing Inequalities in Two Variables, Part 1 (Solve, Graph & Shade Inequalities)

In this lesson, you will learn how to solve inequalities that have two variables and graph them on an x-y plane.

The first step is simply to ignore the inequality and treat it as the equation of a line. The line is drawn on the xy plane as usual, then we must determine how to shade above or below the line in order to illustrate the inequality.

We work several examples to show how to solve inequalities, graph them, and shade them on a coordinate plane.

So in general we draw a line: y = ax+ b and then after checking if we have < or > we can mark upper or lower part of our graph, in other words under or below the 'straight curve' [ if one can say sth like that] ;-) note: b is a point where Y axis is 'touched' and a is 'showing' if our line is / or \ when a<0. A=0 slope is zero y=b. Usually we are dealing with the ineq. containing 1 unknown var. only.
