Common Chris!! One payment for garage door opener that you can use forever instead of paying for monthly payments in MyQ is just plaine illogical. This features should have been included when paying for Tesla LTE monthly fee.

I like the garage door opener on which they come to your house and install it. Paid $350. Works about 90 % . No more subscriptions...

Am I missing something. I Just use myq app on the iphone. Its free andworks great. You can open from anywhere and see the status of your garage door anytime. Granted it wont open automatically when you drive up but its just a button (big) on the phone.

I have both homelink and myq on my model y. At my location, i find that myq only works about 50% of the time. The signal needs to go to the cloud and back to the garage door receiver, which can be hit or miss depending on cell signal strength etc. When myq is triggered it can also be slow to react and have longer latency.

The homelink method, although not perfect, works consistently for me.

If you use HA, you can control every smart device including the garage through the browser app. You can even set up automation for it to open and close as well. The hard part is set up HA.

Not every one uses these for garages. A lot of us uses this for gates. At this time MyQ is not supported by a lot of gate openers. Also, some gates are too far from the home and cannot connect to the internet. The simplicity of Homelink allows this to work and I hope Tesla brings this to Cybertruck.

Set up the trial for the Tesla MyQ integration the first day and have been loving it! I still have the "clicker" in the car just in case but I haven't used it since.

Seems like it should be fairly straightforward for Tesla to use the cameras to recognize if the garage is open or closed and to double-tap the HomeLink for the occasional miss. Doesn't give the open from anywhere feature, but there are other ways to do that. Wyze has a neat mechanism. You just put their basic camera by your garage opener and tape a piece of paper with a QR code to your garage door. If the camera sees the QR code, it knows the garage is closed. There's a simple adapter that links to the garage door wiring. I love Wyze! Very functional without a subscription.

I got a MyQ system from Amazon years ago for like $18 and installed it to my existing garage opener. I got it back then mostly for the Amazon Key delivery. And also I didn’t need to subscribe to any service to use it.

myQ was too flaky so I installed the Homelink module. There were times when myQ would just time out and not open the door. This became more frequent and was very annoying resulting in having use the old garage door opener. I tried several things like leaving Wi-Fi enabled in Drive and having an AP in my garage, but it was still not reliable enough.

Funny timing since I just got a my q garage door opener this week. Everybody that subscription is a straight up scam. You can do it for free through just the app. The main reason I got the my q garage door opener is because it works with Amazon key. Amazon drivers get one time access to your garage to leave a package. I also got the my Q camera to record events in my garage as well as the smart lock for the garage entry door. Everytime an Amazon delivery initiates, the smart lock on the entry door automatically locks so then unlocks once the garage door closes. After closes there’s no way for the Amazon worker to open it again. Little risky sure but there’s nothing valuable in my garage and my garage entry is always locked so 🤷‍♂️. No more porch pirates though

The myQ app does show status as well! I do have homelink on my MYP. It's been pretty good so far. Great video though

Nah what I did is stick Velcro to the back side and bottom of the screen and stuck the remote there. It’s completely out of site and kinda acts like a secret button for the garage door
