I so needed to hear this today. I used to crochet constantly and enjoyed it so much. I am now 74 and my hands cramp so I really don’t crochet anymore. I still have a stash of yarn but I had decided to donate to a crochet group that meets every Friday at my local library (small town). I got it out today and began second guessing myself About to load it in my car to take on Friday on my way to a physical therapy appointment! Thank you! It will finally be out of my home and given to people who will enjoy it and use it!

The problem is deciding what is truly necessary and stuff that may not be but also brings you joy, or the security of knowing that you have it in hand when you need it. I realize i have to get rid of 98% but it’s so darn difficult. Thank you for this video.

I must admit, I’m guilty of keeping things, as you said ‘in case’. Also, when I look around, I see that my place is always clean and “tidy”, but not in a hotel or staged home kind of standard per se. It’s just a lived in happy place of sentimental useful personal items and books that bring me joy. I always appreciate your insights and can definitely use improvement in efficiency of donating my excess and paring down the quantity of items that no longer are of use or have never been of use. 😊 🏡

I'm doing something that is called a plastic free diet in Sweden. I'm getting rid of unnecessary plastic items due to PFAS and other unhealthy chemicals.
The more I declutter, the more I find new things to get rid of, and it's easier when you know that you remove toxic items from your home.
I've been collecting so many free plastic containers and other free stuff just in case I would need it, but now I value a healthy environment more.

Yeah that sounds great for someone who can afford to just go buy something when they need it. Some of us have to buy something when its on sale 50-70% off even tho you may not need it for another month or two. When you’re broke you have to plan ahead and believe me we would all love to have a nice made for tv house but for a lot of us thats not feasible.

This has been a problem for me. I am re-evaluating how many items I need. Retirement and moving are an incentive. I know I will be happier with less. In my workshop, I am using the 20 year rule. Realistically, I have about twenty years to build various projects (I'm 62). I have decided what projects I would like to focus on. Everything that does not support that will go.

This is exactly why I’ve decided to throw out my dresser. I have too many clothes everywhere, and the dresser is just full of trinkets
