Pixel Buds A-Series: Unboxing and First Impressions

From rumor to reality, the Google Pixel Buds A-Series have arrived here in the office and we're doing what we do with new tech: unboxing them! This is a full-blown unboxing and first impressions, so there are a few answers I don't yet have for many of you out there. Mainly, I can't speak to long-term connectivity issues that cropped up with the original Pixel Buds. What I can cover, however, is the feel, look, and functionality these earbuds offer versus their predecessor and the vaunted AirPods Pro. So, let's take a look, shall we?

Thanks for the review. I preordered mine the day they showed up online. This will complete my Google ecosystem as I always used like $30 cheap ones. Good to know they sound great. I'm not a phone gamer at all, so the lag with games is not an issue.

Everyone keeps saying "it's not a big deal" when talking about the volume control swipe, yet that's one of the COOLEST features. Don't have to worry about reaching for your phone while at the gym or whatever...just a simple swipe. Now you have to use Google Assistant to do it which is dumb and takes so much time.

I don’t know bro I just bought these and I’m absolutely in love with them. Movies YouTube videos tv shows all sounds good and the fit are amazing I’m used to the feeling of earbuds always wanting to fall out but not with these they actually feel secure. I’m sold and for $99 bucks worth every penny.

Great review. Thanks for the Bud A-series feature breakdown. Question. If I am on a phone call, can I mute and unmute by tapping the buds? Also, Can I answer a call, and disconnect a call from the buds?

These are most likely them mitigating loses on the originals so instead of dropping the price more they made a new similar product

There have been updates to the 2020 buds.. No connectivity issues any more and... No lag noticeable at all

The lag issue kept me from using my first gen Pixel Buds much, but I just got these and immediately tested them with YouTube. I noticed a significant improvement (still a *tiny* bit of noticeable lag) so maybe they've figured out how to optimize YouTube or other video apps but still need to set up the game integration.

I'm sorry but losing the swipe gesture to raise and lower the volume is a big deal to me because of how I use my buds. But I think it's also a big deal in general. Since it is obvious that many earbuds do not give you great volume control then the pixel buds were excellent in giving us that on both sides. I like the fact that you can control everything on either earbud. I think that is something that is highly underrated. I don't think you could just be easily dismissed that we don't have the swipe gesture anymore. At least it was important to me. I hope they don't try to remove them on the pixel buds 3

I have pixel buds 2020…i love the feel, fit and the sound…i have not had any connection issues…the only bummer being the unplayable gaming latancy…its really bad…have been hoping google works there software magic like how they did with pixel buds original…!!

I use these for PC gaming and podcast and YouTube around the house every single day. I have never had any issue with lag. I even just went into call of duty mobile to see if they would lag during gameplay but nope. I am using a galaxy s20+ so maybe it has to do with the phone and versions of Bluetooth? I love these buds as well. I've had them for almost 2 months. Looking forward to a more "fully loaded" version of these with more bells and whistles. They didn't sell the first version anymore at the store but these are solid!!!
