3:28 correction, The USA actually fought a couple of times before overseas. There where US troops involved abroad in both the Barbary wars in 1800s and later had limited envolvment in the Boxer rebellion in China in 1900

My Grandpa did WW2 on the pacific side. He never wanted to speak of the things he saw but the only thing he'd say is that the real heroes are those who never came back home and he resented the medals he was given.

Sorry Guga but that is not how they would have eaten that food in 1776. a small group of soldiers would have had a cook pot, the hard tack would be likely be made and brough in and the meat would be soaked and rinsed a couple of time because it would have been heavily salted. The meat would be cut up with whatever else they had and stew would be made. The hard tack would likely be broken up and put into the stew as the starch filler. It's too hard just to bite into. That would have been a lot of soldiers with broken teeth.

When i was deployed on the USS Nimitz, Outback Steakhouse sent chefs and food to the carrier and made surf and turf for every member on board. They also brought blooming onions, mashed potatoes (ours were always powdered mash, but Outback brought real spuds), french fries and cheese cake. Some of the pilots i worked with were able to swindle some cheese cakes into the ready room before Outback workers left and shared with us or bartered it for good cigarettes. I got a chocolate cheesecake for a pack of Turkiah Gold that i shared in the berthing. Me and about 15 ladies had movie night and cheesecake and for a little while, we were just women chilling. The Outback guys left the Nimitz as heros. Ill be a 90 year old lady sitting in my rocking chair and ill still remember how good that meal was. They got a customer for life.
