Average new SUV price $52k. Having 06 Corolla and 05 Camry means no car payments which is a beautiful thing!

I like that term he mentioned " Demand Destruction", it falls in perfectly with the way the big three have been managing their companies. Their greed is going to kill them.

Car prices never went down.
I'm seeing the same high prices now as I've seen a year ago.
Dealerships are still overpricing their cars.

Haven’t been in the market since 2010, when I bought a certified used 2006 CR-V. Started looking around recently, and it just blows you mind. High prices, new and used. Interest rates horrible. It’s like watching a horror movie.

I just walked out to my car to grab my lunchbox. I don't really ever admire or think much of my car, but I did tonight. Beautiful car. It is an '08 Avalon and in mint condition. I don't think about it because I bought it cash and nothing ever goes wrong with it. Let this be a lesson to you.

I''ll just keep my civic and silverado matter the maintenance cost, it'll never approach these insane prices.

Very insightful, thankyou Scotty. I bought a Mazda CX-5 GT in Australia two years ago brand new. My work gives me an allowance and they pay for fuel and tolls. I was certain I wanted a Toyota RAV4 until I approached the local dealer and they were so arrogant, I refused to buy a car from them. I walked into the Mazda dealer, I test drove a CX5 GT, loved it and they were willing to negotiate. I’m happy with my car, even more so my manager is paying it off for me. I’ll own it outright in two years and will have a reliable, one owner car for my retirement.

I am a college student with a part time job. I ended up buying a brand new 2022 corolla. Even though i am more than satisfied with the car but monthly payments and high insurance payments is killing me everyday. Kept on saving money and buy a old model.

Are we headed for some sort of Cuba-esqe car market where the rich drive new cars and the rest of us are trying to keep ever older cars running by any means possible because we can't afford new?

I'll just keep my 02 Lexus ES300 for the time being.

Car guy here. I have 1972, 1987, 2004, and 2006 vehicles. All running awesomely. I don’t even follow new cars today. Take care of them and they will take care of you.

It's sad that most new cars cost the price of a house so choose house or vehicle?

Good to find a honest mechanic Scotty 😊

No, I am not planning to buy a new car ever again. I will instead spend money maintaining and keeping my two rust free Tundra trucks going as long as possible... my 2002 will soon need new control arm bushings, and timing belt service after that, and my 2007 just had a oil & filter change plus a transmission fluid drain @ fill at 310, 000 miles. I'll gladly pay a mechanic the equivalent of 1 or 2 new car payments once or twice a year to keep my vehicles going because committing myself to 6 years of $800 to $1000 a month payments plus insurance and maintenance for an overpriced brand new vehicle is stupid.

The car manufacturers discovered that they can make more money selling less cars by artificially restricting supply. Supply and demand. No need for an advanced degree to figure this out.

I fixed my brakes, put new rotors, new ball joints, bearings, tide rods, etc etc in my 2010 Subaru Outback, I also put new tires. The car runs like a clock, and best of all, I haven't had a car payment in years. 175k miles and still goin'.

Don't buy a new car. Keep your old car running.
