Stubborn Boat Mold

In this video I use chlorine and Hydrogen Peroxide products to remove the most stubborn mold off vinyl boat cushions. The mild chlorine product took about an hour of reapplying to work. Then following with peroxide you are guaranteed the chlorine will not eat your vinyl or threads. Hydrogen Peroxide neutralizes Chlorine. Most people skip this step. Also in this video I show you and talk briefly about pink mold. A big problem on some boats. I've ordered a product that advertises to remove it after 5 applications. Subscribe so you do not miss this future video. Thanks for watching and please leave a comment if you know what the blotching is on my cushions!

Super clean works pretty good, and 303 to protect 👍🏼

The blotching is a few possible things: sun damage, sunscreen, color transfer, or a mix of them together. It’s what I normally see on the boats I work with

Mixed the mold mildew remover with bleach and that did the trick for me.

Hi Bobby, its been two years since you did this video, have you seen any degradation to threads or vinyl?

The blotching is the colour dye from wet clothing, cotton especially.

I don't get why it is so difficult to read thru the basics of Chemistry. There is a difference between reduction and oxidation. Combining chlorine with hydrogen peroxide does not help better, but chlorine is able to harm fibers/textile and you have salt leftover. Bleach is the wrong and unscientific household/idiotic term as it covers the chlorine bleach as well as any peroxide based "bleaches". The best option not to harm plastic and to avoid the deposition of salts (in textile and in the foam of the seat cushions) is to rather use peroxide based cleaners. Btw. this is how laundry detergents handle the whitening (not only OxyClean), how teeth whitening is done, etc. Hydrogen peroxide instead ends up to be water and oxygen.

These cooties, do they live in leather? I appreciate your detailed approach to any given issue. Cheers!

buy a bag of lemons. cut the lemon in half and rub all over the mildew. Wait a few minutes and wipe with a damp rag. Very inexpensive way to get rid of mold that most do not know about. Good video.
