I developed my own rig and technique for animating transformers. The character in the movie is based on an existing toy figure. There is no cheating in transformation but I have added additional joints to the model. The model is fully rigged in Maya and has built in transformation that allows for multiple transformation options (transforming while standing on one leg etc.) If you want your company's toy to have a 3D presentation contact me.
