RIFF 2018 - The Moment

The MOMENT is a 'brain controlled' dystopian sci-fi that 'live mixes'
three branching stories. Directed by artist and researcher Richard
Ramchurn, it uses a Neurosky Headset to detect EEG brainwaves to affect the
edit, sound mix and narrative of specially created movie.

The MOMENT itself is set in a future where brain-computer interfaces are
both a source of social threat and potential revelation.
The film speaks to our present relationships with each other via social
media. It is a reaction to the post truth world. It holds up a mirror to
people of their agency, and responsibility.
There are over 18 billion different narrative combinations of the film
causing each screening to be unique. In this never seen before performance
there is the opportunity for two audience members to control their own film
in this back to back screening. Each one will edit The MOMENT and conduct
musicians Hallvardur Assgeirrson and Scrubber Fox Live!
