Given: DE=BC
DE//BC
To prove: ABC is isosceles triangle

Proof: DE//BC (given)
So, AD/BD = AE/CE (BPT)
or
AD/AE =BD/CE
BD=CE (given) --- 1
AD/AE=BD/BD ( by eq 1)
AD/AE= 1
So, AD=AE ----2
Now adding 1 and 2
BD+AD = AE+CE
AB = AC
Two sides of triangle are equal so ABC is isosceles triangle
Hence proved
