A record-breaking 4.5 million American workers quit their jobs in November of 2021 - as the trend coined 'The Great Resignation' drags on. Economists say it signals a sign of confidence in the labour market, but could also reflect ongoing fears about the pandemic. Maybe North American companies should allow better work life balance, with reasonable work expectations that are to be fulfilled. Most Americans and Canadians get only 2 weeks off, and the minimum in Canada is 2 weeks, the minimum in the US is 0 weeks for PTO. Meanwhile most of the world gets much more. EU gets 4 weeks minimum, UK gets 5 weeks minimum. This is so young workers can get their travelling etc out, and older workers can handle family issues. It also crucially limits burnout(increases productivity) and apathy(increases loyalty) as employees have some real time off to look forward too. We all have one shot, give workers a good work life balance, so we can live out lives to our fullest, while fulfilling job duties. Owners may have the passion to build their own business, but workers just need the money to pay living expenses, take it easier on them, so they are more productive, and less burnt out. In fact, Germany has way higher producitivity than the US, precisely because people generally have minimum 4 weeks PTO to look forward to, so they work harder and smarter to get the well earned time off. Meanwhile in Japan with long work hours, productivity is dramatically lower due to burnout, and the risk of making errors at work is much higher.

Do you know the most insulting part on the companies' side?
They advertise traditionally high positions with minimal wage and basically no health benefits.
Yeah, no wonder people want to find new jobs/work for themselves.
