Lab guy here. There are different variations to Troponin testing. There's cTnI and cTnT. Also, the provider may also order a proBNP, CK-MB, LDH, etc etc. But yes, a Troponin is always ordered for all chest pain patients in order to definitively determine if there has been an MI.

Fact: EKG's don't always show heart attacks... Both my sister and father were having heart attacks and in both incidents the EKG came back clear...

It took the last blood test to come back saying "they had slight heart attacks; both my father and sister ended up having multiple bypasses

Had a 27 year old cousin go to the er complaining about chest pain, EKG came back negative and they told him it was just anxiety... The next morning on his way to work he dropped dead from a massive heart attack 😕

On the other hand, my mother in law had 2 EKG's and both times it said she was having heart attacks and both times she went straight to heart catheterization and each time she came back completely fine, absolutely no blockages...

Heart attack = „plumbing issue“ where artery is clogged (muscle cells could die)
Cardiac arrest = „electrical issue“ where pacemaker node somehow fails to send or muscle fails to receive electrical impulse to contract (heart stops beating)

Symptoms, women, usually very different from the men's symptoms mentioned.
My Mom had a horrible cough, showed it was a small heart attack.
Later they found scar tissue indicating she had had at least 7 heart attacks, all minor, and didn't even know about it. Probably just a bad cough..🤷

Stomach aches, back pains, difficulties to bend down and pick up something from the floor, the torso just don't bend. Difficulties to twist the torso, it's just stop. No pain, the body just don't twist.
Head aches. Diarrhea.

Sorry guys, we didn't ask for this. It's inconvenient. Who will figure out you're having a heart attack, because you can't tie your shoes?? A heart attack can be equally lethal for a woman. Who is most likely to have immediate help, the man with chest pain and difficult to breathe, or the woman with diarrhea and a bad head ache??

Weird (and kinda stressful) coincidence.. I had a very weird episode today when I really thought it might have been an heart attack! I was driving when I started feeling like I going to throw up, then I went dizzy, started losing my vision (everything went super bright like I had a spot in my face), sounds started to sound like I was in a can.. and then I had just some pain in the chest but it felt like when I have heart burn and it didn’t stay for long.

I was able to stop in a parking and open the windows and lie down and after 5-6 min I was starting to feel better.. but ever since I’m incredibly sore and tired and I am thirsty 99% of the time it’s so weird..

I’m a bit scared to go to sleep tonight.. I desperately want to see my daughter in the morning 😢
