The family of the 20-year-old Houston native said she didn’t like being stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. On April 22, Guillen stopped answering calls and text messages.

I read an article earlier this month that the Fort Hood commander lost his post and was denied transfer after incidents at the [Fort Hood] Army base. More needs to be done! Vanessa and all the other soldiers and their families need justice!!!

This really hit home for me. My family and I are also from Rio Grande, Zacatecas and I have a cousin in the military. Knowing that this happened in a military base and no one cared enough to search. Such a beautiful soul that never got to come to full circle. Tragic how this is the reality of many women in the armed forces. Please pray that her family is able to come out with full strength and pray that justice is achieved and true change is made

I was living at FT Hood last year, always got lost there, hated living in the middle of nowhere, Killeen was just ..not a good place to live in imo. I’m glad I left
