Not many people know this, but the casino in this game has a very strict age limit. You have to be eight. Tails was fine, but Gamma got carded, and they figured out he was two, so the others had to sneak him in.

10:00 Maybe the reason is because, since Gamma isn’t able to leave Eggman’s base until he completes Final Egg and the first Beta Boss, and then he’s immediately sent to Emerald Coast after that, there’s no reason for the Hotel Doors to close off Emerald Coast? You can’t leave Eggman’s base anyways, so that’s what keeps you from sequence breaking in Gamma’s story.

I've got a strong suspicion for why Gamma can lock onto the boxes in Lost World: he was supposed to go there at one point. Think about it: Lost World is the only stage that you don't go into as 3 different characters; you only go in as 2: Sonic and Knuckles. Perhaps Gamma was supposed to go there, but that was cut due to time constraints or issues fitting it into the story.
