I love how you talked about the points in the book and then read a section from the book that supports the point. Thank you!

First: You voice is AMAZING. Hope someone see this videos and invite you to do audiobooks cause I'm ready for it.

Second: Read this book last month in like 4 hours and it felt so hard. All the moviments weren't up like today but at that point I felt so miserable with the world. I think about this history lots of times when somone says we're suposed to be strong cause things will get better. It was hard to me see a character strugle about all this stuff and I keep imagine how it feels in real life and it made me so angry and so sorry. I hope more people read this book and fell all the good and bad stuff that come with it.

Congrats on 5k subscribers and also a big congrats for being monetized! Just like this video, you always create such thoughtful discussions. You're definitely an inspiration to me particularly on how well you review books. I read this book a few months back and, to say the least, was educated and moved by it. I really look forward to reading more from Nic Stone.
One of my favorite aspects of the book, as you pointed out around 3:13, was Nic's use of different literary devices to tell the story. Not only was it clever but also certainly powerful.

This book sounds fascinating and tragic. Thank you for highlighting it! Thank you also for sharing your personal experiences in relation to parts of the story.

I like how you blended teaching important things, like why color blindness does not help us, while tying it back to spotlighting the book and why people should read it. This has been on my TBR for a while and it seems like a book I should get to sooner rather than later. I subscribed to you a few days ago and have watched a few of your videos. As usual, this one didn't disappoint. :) Have a great day!

Thank you for sharing this review! I’m facinated by books that incorporate alternative methods of storytelling & I just downloaded Dear Martin on Libby.
Have you heard of Erasure by Percival Everett? I read it in a college course last year, and it is also engaging in a similar conversation re: respectability politics. It was very polarizing, and many of my black classmates ultimately felt Everett succumbed to the very racist idealogy he was attempting to critique. It’s a unique & fascinating read, though, and I’ve been meaning to read more from Everett since we covered it.

My friend had this book incorporated into the year 9 syllabus at my secondary school. I’m so happy that my school wanted to take the steps to think about these things and for my friend for doing something about it.

This was a great review! I've been wanting to read this book for so long and I'm disappointed in myself that I haven't picked it up yet. It's going to be one of the books I get next time I go to the library!
