Agreed Lee. Every guitarist needs to play through an amp like this at least once in their lives.

The JCM 800 sounded great. Definitely my favorite of the three.

I personally love what Marshall is doing here! They are doing the mods on there existing stock while they develope a new flagship or new products. This makes total sense. Marshall is back!

I think that modded JCM 800 is definitely got me going wayyyy more than the Bogner Snorkler and Mesa Dual Rec 90s reissue. Tremendous job Marshall!

After many many years of a 71 50 plexi being my number 1, I realised how much this is part of my DNA! Loved this. I run into a Motherload and 67 4x12 with greenbacks. Cant wait for tomorrows studio sesh!!! Edge of breakup and Klon. Job done.

In bands in the early 2000s every single rehearsal room was chock full of JCM900s and JCM 2000s. Heavy nostalgia.

I just picked up the JCM 900 Studio Combo...WOW! Build quality is impeccable, it's a beautiful amp.
The clean is monumental, a beautiful slight breakup starting at noon (humbuckers). Just a bit more on the lead side at around 9 o'clock and gradually builds to a great Marshall growl beyond there. It's a little cleaner all around with single coils as you would expect. I've heard many comments about "fizz" from the old 900's but I hear none of that in this amp. All controls are effective. Of course, it required a few hours of speaker break-in to get to this point. I expect it to be even better in a few days.
Attenuation at 5 watts is great, at 1... not so much, but I believe that's just the lack of volume that we love to hear.
Effects loop works as it should. I haven't tried the direct out for recording yet...

That 800 is one of the best Marshall tones I’ve ever heard on YouTube.

Awesome to see Marshall finally bringing mods to the market. That 800 sounds fantastic. Please keep up with the 100 watt tube amps!

I've not seen Lee this excited about an amp for a long while. They do sound great.

It's awesome that Marshall is doing this.
I personally love that they still do handwired series of amplifiers. Those are meant to last a lifetime and be repaired, plus they do dound better. Real pro stuff for touring players.

SuperLead Pexi is something that can't be explained if you haven't tried it at blasting levels. Modified versions with additional pre amp gain stage were stuff that made some music styles possible in the first place. It's awesome that Marshall officially embraces that with this 1959 version.

Those mythical beasts were made for 10 years and have made all of the Marshall's reputation and popularity.

As soon as you see square switches chances are good that it's 75 or later amplifier with ST1 PCB. Cabinet redesign, bigger logo and PCB. Made it possible that everyone can own one. That PCB was best PCB available and Marshall stayed with on chassis pots and sockets. But now after 50 years thise are showing their age. Especially if they were worked on or modified. They took small hit in sound department but they made revolution and economical boom. Those amplifiers made most money to Marshall. They were still roadworthy but not meant to be repaired for ever.
Even today's modern amplifiers will be fine staying at home and not getting full blast for 3 hours straight.
But if you do need that go with hardwired versions.

Pricing is really good actually. Good job Marshall!

Marshall cleans are severely under rated

This new modded jcm 800 sounds really good by the way.. I only wished they had put those gain stages in a foot switch, that would have made it great.

the jcm 900 was my first tube amp back in the day., a 2x12 jcm 900 combo. sounded amazing with high output pickups and low tunings. i might buy this just for the nostalgia feeling

The JCM 900 was heavily used by a lot of early 90s Death Metal bands. A ProCo Rat in front of a JCM 900 with an EMG loaded guitar tuned down to D or C was pretty much the default sound of the genre.
