I didn’t watch the whole thing but did you talk about how mental health (childhood trauma) CAUSES Crohn’s & IBD (& most other chronic health conditions)? ....hope so. Anyone interested, read Dr. Gabor Maté’s When the Body Says No: Exploring the Stress Disease Connection. Real eye-opener

This is me all of these symptoms 😭. Before I would have pain in my gut days before I'd be in a down mood. So my gut and depression is real. I'm skinny now trying to gain weight 😩. It's a battle. I'm very glad I know more about these symptoms. Thank you ❤️.

Very timely, I am fortunate in a review of my depression as I can not seem to get past depression fatigue. Have been working with a nutrition physician as well as psychiatrist and psychologist. I have am also trying to get an overview of my whole health and am slowly making changes.
This article sounds like so much of what is going on for me especially the self judgment. My IBS symptoms have slowly improved.

Hmm. I have had IBS with chronic constipation for almost 20 years but many of the side effects are the same as IBD. Sleep issues, lower digestive pain and discomfort, etc. The worst part is the "witches brew" that develops sometimes in the lower digestive system when food stuff hangs around there for too long. I can definitely relate to and empathize with the IBD sufferers. 😏

I identify with so much of this. Medication eliminates the bathroom problem, but nothing helps the remaining, underlying inflammation causing my fatigue, brain fog, malnourishment, and hypersomnia. The only things for me that have been effective on what the meds can't handle is the full-salaried retirement I had during the pandemic and heavy exercise. Post-pandemic we gotta go back to work which messes everything up, and the fatigue from work inhibits heavy exercise. For whatever reason light exercise (I walk 6~10km a day) doesn't work for me.

Lots of foods increase inflammation. I've had IBD for over 7 years, the last 5 I haven't needed any medication to control it, my diet is enough which is almost all whole food plant based. No animal products & Gluten free. Many people wouldn't be willing or able to adopt a diet shift like that & there's no guarantees it would work for them as everyone's IBD is different but there are studies showing a good rate of remission as a result of diet.

I have been going from one doctor to the next one gastro to the next then one psychiatrist to the next and they fail to give a clear explanation for chronic fatigue and inability to perform in life in terms of academic achievements, I mean how many medications can you really take

@ 16:11 Shit the bed, you say?

Please excuse my potty humor. It could not be helped.

Thanks. Nice presentation. But you are wrong about smoking. Smoking tobacco stops ulcerative colitis in its tracks. Millions of testimonials about that.
