I bought two of the ECT3000. I returned the first one thinking it was shorted internally. I was loosing single half way down the green wire when connecting to OBD2 plug.

The instructions booklet dose explain how to calibrate the tool, but only after fiddling around with it, watching videos and spending hours with multiple long breaks (out of frustration) did I come to the same conclusions.

Your video was extremely helpful, it confirmed I’m using the tool correctly, so thank you very much.

Wow, now I know how to use my 3000! Can't thank you enough for showing how to lock in the probe. I watched several vids from 'Power Probe' and they failed to mention that critical piece of info. You need to get royalties from them for your showing THEIR customers how to use THEIR tool they are trying to sell! Thanks again!!

Thank you I've also had it for a year and haven't used it because the directions didn't make sense to me. I'm not a mechanic but you explained it very simple and now I'm using it!! Thank you.

Very helpful video … the biggest impact comes from seeing all the extra effort you applied in other areas of the vehicle … thanks for sharing your success…

Very helpful ; especially when you use the tool on a actual problem in the field and not a lab demo. Thank you!

Thank you for the video. I keep having a window/door lock fuse blow when the key turns to the on and run positions. It wasn't any of the switches, so I decided to order one of these. I was just outside trying to pinpoint my issue and I thought when the light came on in the center that was where my break was. So, I started to removed the hardness from the drivers kick panel to the door. It started raining, so I came inside. I am glad I found your video. I never locked it in. :)

Dude great job and you are right no one in any of the videos I’ve watched so far has mentioned anything about turning the key off or locking on to the probed wire signal when it starts to beep really fast like you’re spot on my guy, for a moment there I thought the tool was too glitchy when I was using mine but I still found the problem in 30 min unlike the other 2 mechanics who ordered a light switch and a BCM 😂😂

Good demonstration. And yes, useful real practical information is surprisingly often missed.

Thank you for clarifying how to use this device. I wasn't sure if i was using it right. Ultimately, I was but you explaining the fine details made my job easier. I'm a diesel mechanic, and thank you.

This would be an open in your wiring. A short would be either the wire is rubbed through and is touching ground or two bare wires touching each other. Open is a break in the wire. Just a friendly note. 😊

An open circuit is when there is a break in a closed circuit connection.
That is very different than a short. A short is a direct connection between two positions in a circuit that are NOT supposed to be directly connected.
An actual short can often lead to overheating and burning/melting of wires, insulation and fire.
