Scan only has the 9600K or KF veriants and are below £200 which would mean i dont need to upgrade the motherboard saving me some money for a new GPU when i can get my hands on one that is. Maybe im just being dumb by buying from one supplier as i have used scan for many years and they are a great company. Thanks to all with recomendations. Great community as always.

Oh man, ordered a new XPS from Dell last week for work and it's coming with an 11900K in it. Came here to see what I'm in for. The thought of this i9 in a little Dell case with one of their small might have to leave the side panel off and invest in a desk fan!

power draw is just incredible high.
just like FX days, but now for intel... at least it has perfomance, but at what cost? i dont think that high temp is good to the cpu for a long time...

Just a waste of people's money, they should just should have retired the 14nm cpu's after the Zen3 launch, and focused all they money and research into at max 7nm cpu's and much lower tdp (owner of a 10600k; and most likely my last intel cpu after 30 years)

intel is done, better face it. even their i9 9990xe or how ever its called remains ridiculous compared to current amd powerhouses. amd is finally able to unleash their full potential which they always had but couldnt fully gain, now they finally can ;)

I'm still rocking my 10 year old i7 2600k @ 4.5 GHz with 8GB RAM and MSi 970 GTX GeForce Twin Frozr IV 4GB with 850 Evo SSD 250GB. I think it's time to upgrade for the next gen games (Battlefield 6 / GTA 6) but I've no idea what CPU / motherboard to go for. I don't want to spend silly money and would like to get something that lasts as long as my 2600k has.

I'm glad I went X570 + R5 3600 last summer, gives me the option of dropping in a 5600/5800 next year to stretch my AM4 gaming rig into perhaps 2023/4 and skip the 1st gen of the new sockets.
