Sealing Your Hair Ends

An important practical thing regarding haircare that you can implement right now that will help you retain length is the practice of sealing your ends with a light oil after a shower.

What this does is the oil creates a seal around the moisture in your hair. And that's what you want because ends are the most liable to become brittle and snap off. Therefore, you really want to seal in that moisture.

I use a plant-based gel to seal my ends; it's a film-forming humectant that keeps my ends sealed and feels good to the touch. I use flaxseed gel, aloe vera gel, or xanthan gum gel. Works even better than oil for me. Thanks for you content.

Thanks to you, I actually have long hair now! (A little below hip length!!) I wear my hair in a bun daily, usually I also wear a bandana when working outside-keeps my hair cleaner longer! At night I braid my hair and brush coconut oil on the ends to protect while sleeping.

2-4 drops of jojoba on my fine but dense hair after a shower is plenty for me.

This alone has been a huge game changer for me. What a difference in a very short amount of time.

I've been trying to grow my hair out for a few years with minimal success until my girlfriend introduced me to your channel. Now my hair is down to the middle of my shoulder blades. Thank you for all of your tips! I've found what works best for my hair is alternating between jojoba oil and ghee instead of shea butter, coconut oil, etc.

When I use just jojoba oil it seems like it needs to be reapplied a second time in the afternoon because my ends feel dry. Is this normal with jojoba oil or should I be mixing the jojoba oil and ghee together before applying as you recommend? Thank you and Happy Holidays!!! :)

I have started not washing all the time, maybe once every two weeks with a no sulfate no dye natural shampoo and oiling my hair and finger combing and it’s been looking great. I just hope it grows morw

Although my hair is fine, I also do this while damp, but I rinse out excess oil/shea. I make sure it's strictly on my ends only. The other way is to use grapeseed oil, which is a lighter oil, but will seal ends as well.❤

This is exactly what I do since I have Wavy 2C hair. I use a very light Walnut, Almond oil. It's very light and gets absorbed into my hair after a shower.

My bleached type 1A hair loves the Moroccan oil lightweight formula for this.

I have heard of this oil for hair growth but I never tried it.

I use the jojoba oil on my wet ends at the end of a shower. My hair is oily and this still works great at keeping my hair smooth and soft without leaving it greasy.

A dab of castor oil on my 3in super dense hair is plenty. And work so well

I’ve experienced telogen effluvium in the last few months because of a brief but severe illness. Lost what feels like about a quarter of my hair. Any advice on recovering my hair density?

Thank you for this! I actually apply coconut oil before a shower so my hair doesn't get so waterlogged. I also apply a little again after my shower. (I only wash my hair once a week). I also only take cold to lukewarm showers-better for your health and that of your hair! I do have a question though, what other oils can I use for my hair? Coconut oil seems to make the top of my scalp look 'dirty' after a few uses.
