The U.S. Army had the forerunner of this vehicle BVD206, in Alaska from 1984-1991. It was the M973, and M973A1 Small Unit Support Vehicle (SUSV). They were first powered by a 5 cyl Mercedes diesel and a 6 cyl Mercedes diesel. They proved underpowered, and their fiberglass bodies weren't very durable.The big mistake was they tried to utilize them as combat vehicles. Because they came from Sweden, the U.S. was prohibited from mounting armaments on them due to NATO Restrictions. Now that Sweden has been admitted to NATO, there's talk of re-equipping U.S. Forces in Alaska with the new model.
