Holiday message from the Commandant 2011

The Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James Amos and the First Lady of the Marine Corps, Bonnie Amos wish happy holidays to all Marines, past and present, and thank them for their indomitable spirit.

Great message from the General and his lovely wife. I am not a serviceman, but I have a lot of respect for those who signed up to put their lives on the line so that us "civies" can have a safe holiday season. My only wish for Christmas is for all servicemen and women abroad to be able to come home safely to their families after their duties are complete. They have all earned a life of peace and happiness for their service to this country. Merry Christmas

As a mother to a US Marine, I want to thank every one of you out there who is a Marine! As a veteran, I understand the sacrifice you are dealing with to protect this country, and handle some difficult issues aboard. God bless - a belated Merry Christmas, a safe New Years Eve/Day! Semper Fidelis.

Commandant, with all due respect, you titled this Holiday message - but you keep saying Christmas and that leaves out a great many Marines whose religions celebrate other holidays this season. They too are Marines and they too deserve your respect and recognition at this holy time.
