This is the song you listen to when you are caught between being ‘just a friend’ and ‘being a real lover’ to somebody. It’s what you listen to when you feel like you are walking on the blade of a knife trying not to miss that special someone and message them pouring your heart out, even though they couldn’t really care less. It’s what you sing out loud in the shower when you see them with somebody else. You can never call them a lover because they were never yours to lose. The only way you can get over this feeling is by pretending and this song captures that beautifully.

This song, for me, is the perfect description of an "almost something", where the other person wasn't a friend to you but you never got into a real relationship. Sometimes, when something dies without even starting, it can hurt a lot. And, in the bottom of your heart, you still love her/him, but at the end the best you can do is go on and pretend they were just some lover.
