In the film there were 3 cars. One nearly perfect, one a middle resto, and one was a bondo cutlass 350 car. Before the movie was made I got a strange phone call. Way before cell phones. They said they couldn't tell me what or why but understood I had a 70 442 and might want to sell it. I didn't. Still have it and it's my first car. However I put them onto a friend named Tom's car for sale. They bought it and it became the middle car they did stunts in but didn't destroy.

Edit : just remembered a few more details. Both my car and Tom's car they used were both original code 28 twilight (dark) blue cars. Neither were w-30 cars but truth be told there are more "W-30" cars now than when new! The top 2 cars were 455 powered and both would easily incinerate the tires at will.
As said earlier my car was my first car and I still have it and I'm 52.
My car has been apart for awhile in what we call "paint jail" but has all new floorboards and quarter panels. Before it came apart for paint it was all done underneath as an actual body off resto. I was young then and decided to keep the barn find look then that is so popular now. An honest normally aspirated 462 Olds engine powered the car to easy 11.teens at 118 with tailpipes and mickey thompson e/t street tires and weighed 3713 pounds on the nmca scale. That combo made about 575hp with flat tappet hyd cam and not much else. Since then the engine made 620/620 on dyno but never got to use that combo in the car yet. When I do get it together will be an easy 10.50s street car with all Olds power. In fact that is the license plate "oldspwr"

Sandra bullock in this scene was like my ex girlfriend when I taught her to drive 73 chevy truck for the first time, She nearly lost control because it was too much torque for her to handle. She said "wheres are the airbags located on this this truck ? Air bags she could not believe old cars didn't come with airbags " yup 70 Oldsmobile 442 are the still bad ass .

I hated how they wrecked the car in the movie. There was a cut scene in the Dealership after the car broke through the floor and raced out into the streets. One of the customers saw the car and said to the dealer, "I WANT ONE OF THOSE!"
